Young Women & Health Care Coverage

By Christine Cupaiuolo — March 4, 2009

As part of its monthly Reform Matters conference call series on health care policy, the National Women’s Law Center has put together an excellent package of information on young women and insurance coverage.

Raising Women’s Voices put together a fact sheet on why young people are so often without insurance and ways to make it more affordable.

In this report, Community Catalyst explains how to insure more young people now: Change state laws to allow young people to remain on their parents’ health insurance plans beyond age 18. Finally, here’s a look at what Massachusetts offers: a health plan especially designed for 18-26 year-olds.

Plus: If you’re on Facebook, join the group 1 Million Women and Families Strong for Health Care Reform, also sponsored by the National Women’s Law Center.
