Kathie Lindstrom (pictured in the middle) has been THE guiding force in perinatal education in Canada.

She has been a doula and an educator for many years. She is a great teacher and an inspiration to anyone aspiring to make a difference in maternity care.

I cannot say enough good things about her. She is humble, she is strong, and she has truly made a difference in the lives of hundreds (maybe thousands) of women, babies and their families worldwide.

Ask anyone in Canada’s birth community, and they will all tell you — Kathie is fantastic.

As an educator herself, and through the thousands of doulas, childbirth educators, medical residents and breastfeeding specialists she has taught and inspired, Kathie has improved the birthing experience for women and has been a strong voice for positive change in the birthing community for over 20 years.

  5. Kathie is , without doubt, the most influential person in the Birth World here in BC. She is a strong advocate for all things related to the power we as women have.

    The nomination speaks for itself.

She has been a huge inspiration and mentor in my life.

Thank you from all the women and families, and health care professionals lives that you have touched !

  6. Kathie has inspired not only a Province but many corners of the planet with her tireless devotion to women, babies and birth. She has never wavered from her vision and like a mother bear, has stood her ground when at times I am sure she felt like a lone voice in a sea of madness.
She has encouraged, supported, educated, mentored and touched so many lives including mine.

  7. I have had the honor of attending trainings where Kathy has been generous enough to lend her voice, knowledge, and enthusiasum. She has been a great influence to birth junkies all over, and in BC in particular. Each time I am fortunate enough to be in her presence, must lust for this work is renewed a thousand times over. Thank you Kathy!

  8. I’m quite sure that without Kathie’s example and support I would not be where I am to day. She certainly deserves this award and I say congratulations to her on the nomination!

  9. I have known Kathie since I was a little girl. Her presence is calming, inspiring, strengthening, and she is also very funny!

She was our Doula for our first son. She trained me as a Doula. She is an AMAZING woman! She greatly deserves this award!

This world wouldn’t be the same without Kathie in it!

  10. Kathie is in short, an amazing woman. She is definitely a pioneer in the birthing world here in Canada, and it is a great honour to know her. She trained me as a doula (along with Jalana Grant), and was my “almost doula” at the birth of our fourth child (baby came too fast, and she didn’t make it, but made up for it by ordering chinese food for all!), and also educated me to be a Lamaze educator …..and I am proud to work for Douglas College as an LCCE. She definitely has earned this award! Kudos to you Kathie!!
