Cindy Turner-Maffei

Cindy Turner-Maffei’s life/work has focused on maternal and infant nutrition and wellness. As a lead faculty member of the Healthy Children Project, Inc., she develops and conducts training programs and research projects focusing on the WHO/UNICEF Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding.

Cindy served as national coordinator of Baby-Friendly USA for 14 years, overseeing the assessment and designation of more than 100 U.S. Baby-Friendly maternity facilities.

She has also worked as a nutritionist and breastfeeding educator in maternal child health programs, and clinical settings and private practice as a lactation consultant. A delegate to breastfeeding coalitions on the regional and national level, including the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee, Cindy is an affiliated professor at the Union Institute and University in the bachelor’s degree program in maternal child health: lactation consulting.

She is an author of numerous articles and monographs, and books, most recently: “Continuity of Care: Best Practices in the Maternity Setting.”
