OBOS Job Opening: Coordinator of Development

The Boston Women’s Health Book Collective, Inc. (d/b/a Our Bodies Ourselves) seeks a half-time, experienced fundraiser to work directly with the Executive Director and the Board Fundraising Committee to develop and implement the organization’s fundraising plan for 2012.

Our Bodies Ourselves is a groundbreaking women’s organization that has had an impact on the field of women and health for more than 40 years.  This position represents a tremendous opportunity to further the group’s mission.

Responsibilities

This person will:

• Review previous fundraising strategies and work with program leadership to develop a 2012 fundraising plan that would best serve the organization’s mission and current programmatic priorities;
• Develop fundraising materials, including solicitation letters and proposals;
• Review current donor tracking systems and record keeping and research new fundraising databases;
• Work with the communications staff to develop fundraising messages and to ensure that materials are coordinated;
• Support the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting individual donors, especially donors in the $1,000 to 30,000 range;
• Identifying and pursuing new sources of foundation income, including the revision of existing proposals to meet particular foundation guidelines;
• Develop an online giving campaign, using social media.

Qualifications required:

• A minimum of 5 years fundraising experience;
• Experience with implementing short-term tactics as well as long-term strategies;
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills;
• Excellent grant-writing skills;
• Well-organized, with attention to detail;
• Good computer skills (including experience with database management);
• A proven track record with expanding individual donor contributions;
• Experience implementing online campaigns using social media and crowdsourcing.

Salary: $20 - 25,000 (.5 FTE)
