India: Women Unlimited (English)
Project Update In 2008, Women Unlimited published an English reprint of Our Bodies, Ourselves for India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, and the Maldives. This edition retains the basic structure and content of the original book, but contains updated and contextual information relevant to the lives of women and girls in the South Asia region.
To this end, specific sections are amended with the goal to introduce key ideas into public discourse on women's health. Almost half the 1,000 books printed have been sold/distributed.
Given that women comprise the largest segment of health workers, health consumers, and health decision-makers for their families and communities – but under-represented in positions of influence and policy – Women Unlimited hopes that users of their book will become well-informed health consumers and catalysts for social change.
