Interested in learning more about Our Bodies Ourselves and the beginning of a worldwide movement for women’s health? Judy Norsigian, OBOS co-founder and executive director, is going to be on WBAI radio (99.5 FM in New York) this Thursday (Nov. 5) from 10 to 11a.m. EST. You can stream the interview at www.wbai.org.

Norsigian’s appearance is part of a special two-hour edition of the Joy of Resistance, WBAI’s multicultural feminist radio show. Expect her to weigh in on health care reform, the state of maternity care and many other urgent issues.

Joy of Resistance will offer copies of “Our Bodies, Ourselves” signed by Norsigian as a fundraiser premium, along with two award-winning documentary DVD’s: “Absolutely Safe” by Carol Leyva, which examines the safety of breast implants, and “Killing Us Softly: Advertising’s Image of Women-3” by Jean Kilbourne, a look at the pressures on today’s women to conform to commercial standards of beauty.

WBAI is part of the Pacifica Radio Network, which includes five radio stations (the other four are in Berkeley, Los Angeles, Houston, and Washington, D.C.) and more than 50 affiliate stations.

  1. I have been on injection for about a 1year n half a don’t have periods am getting really bad pain could that be side effects

  2. I took depo once and didn’t like so after the 3 months was up I didn’t get my 2nd injection and I still haven’t gotten my period and its been two months since. My only worry is that my period will come back very heavy and gross.

  3. My preod as no come my Brest hurt my belly hurt I feel like iam pregnant an iam not I take a test

  4. I was given a Depo shot after having my son, before leaving the hospital. I never heard of it prior. I was 40 with a new born and ready to get divorced. I was on Depo Provera 3 years and went off of it after 3 years. Also immediately when I started the shot my period stopped and no sex drive what so ever, which was perfect for me at that time, I didn’t know then that was a side effect. I have had no issues since stopping the shot, never had a period since Depo, sexual desire also not the same as before the Depo.
During a visit for my last Depo shot I picked up a magazine about Depo Provera that it is given sometimes to men in prison before being released to take away their sexual drive. The doctor that said losing the desire for sex has nothing to do with Depo-Provera needs to take a survey on many woman that was / is on that medicine because he is not on target with the side effects. 15 years and I am still waiting on mine to return.???

  5. I’ve been on the depo shot for about two years and I loved it for a while. I experienced no periods, but did suffer from depression while on the shot. Now that I’ve recently stopped taking it, I’ve been experiencing brown discharge that will not seem to go away.

  6. I had my babygirl in april 2016, got on the depo june 2016. Was suppose to go back for 2nd shot sept 4th and never did. When i was on it, i had spotting but wasnt even real bloody it was like a brown gooey glob nasty stuff. But ever since ive been off of it..i bleed every four days. And its HEAVY EXTREME bleeding. I get about a 3 or 4 day break then its back again. Im going through pads and tampons like crazy. Its horrible. And i read it can take up to 18 months to get back to regular cycles. I will never get the depo again. My body just doesnt do good with birth control. Ive done two different kinds of pills and they made me very moody and tired and my face break out bad. Nice to know im not the only one having these issues after getting off the depo
