Body image is how we see, think, and feel about our own bodies. Body image exists on a continuum. Some days, or in some situations we may feel great about our bodies—how they look, feel, and function. In other times and situations we may struggle to find anything we can truly like about our bodies. Positive body image promotes mental, physical, and social health; the opposite is also true. Many social forces push us—especially women, girls, and gender-expansive people–to criticize, despise, and over-focus on our bodies.
