Sally Whelan

Sally Whelan, a co-founder of Our Bodies Ourselves, was a staff member of OBOS for 37 years. For many years she directed the organization’s Global Initiative, which, under her leadership and guidance, collaborated with women’s groups around the world to develop cultural adaptations of Our Bodies, Ourselves. Sally also played a key role in advancing OBOS’s work on emerging biotechnologies and their intersection with women’s health and human rights globally.

In 2004, Sally received Public Citizen’s Public Interest Service Award, established to recognize “unsung heroes” in the public interest movement and, along with other co-founders, received the 2010 Women’s Health Award from the National Organization for Women Foundation.
